Italy's Minister of Justice in Washington at Department of Justice On March 31, 2009, Italian Minister of Justice, Angelino Alfano, met with the US Attorney General, Eric Holder, during his visit to the nation's capital. Mr. Alfano was accompanied by Ambassador Giovanni Castellaneta and by Dr. Stefano Dambruoso, Head of the International Relations Office of the Italian Ministry of Justice. Minister Alfano and Attorney General Holder discussed several important matters such as the agenda for the upcoming Rome G8 Summit. Their meeting proved very productive and helped to consolidate the already excellent ties between the two countries. During the talks, Mr. Alfano proposed the creation of a "consolidated justice fund." This "piggy bank" would collect all assets confiscated from organized crime worldwide. Since their activities represent an international criminal enterprise that concerns all countries affected by it, the response should also be worldwide. The US Attorney General expressed appreciation for the Italian approach to the problem. |CiaoAmerica.net| |
