Miss Italia nel Mondo, the exciting Pageant celebrating the beauty of women of Italian heritage from around the world, is proud to announce its 2009 Edition, with selections starting immediately! Italian-American women who reside in the United States are invited to compete for the crown beginning in individual state competitions. Winners of the state competitions will travel to the Finale Show next spring 2009, where one lucky participant will be crowned Miss Italia USA 2009.

Miss Italia USA 2009 will travel then to Italy on June 2009 to compete against other forty-nine young ladies from all over the world for the title of Miss Italia nel Mondo.

The final pageant will be held in Jesolo, outside Venice. RAI 1 and RAI Italia, the national TV station with millions of viewers, will broadcast the competition worldwide.

In order to participate in the Miss Italia USA competition, a woman must be a resident of United States for at least six months before June 30, 2009, be of Italian origin (one Italian parent or at least one Italian grandparent). Candidates must have a basic knowledge of the Italian language and be between the ages of 17 and 26 by December 31, 2009.

“This is in memory of my father and of all immigrants like him, who had to leave their beautiful Country to find work elsewhere, we have created this pageant so that their daughters can participate in an experience bringing them back to their roots,” said Enzo Mirigliani, creator of Miss Italy in The World. Today, this international affair offers young women of Italian descent a unique opportunity to showcase their figure, also growing personally in poise, confidence, public speaking and communication skills, physical fitness and seld-discipline. From the very first edition of Miss Italy in the World, there has been a crossing of many girls journey some of which have come from countries extremely far away and never the less have a very tight bond with our country. The contests open doors and provide educational opportunities, not only to the winner, but to all the young women who participate, providing a positive alternative to Italian American youth.
